Independent Business School, London College of International Business Studies

Students

The average age of students at the college is 26 and they have a variety of backgrounds. Many are non-business graduates needing career-oriented business training to familiarise themselves with business practice and complement their degree; a smaller number are business graduates needing further training in a new area of business in a professional English-speaking environment. The college also accepts enrolments from visiting undergraduates from overseas taking time out from their degree studies in order to study in London and complete a career-oriented business course, as well as from business and non-business graduates wishing to complete an LCIBS programme in preparation for postgraduate study in the UK in a business related area.

LCIBS courses also appeal to working business people who would like to broaden their knowledge. Experienced professionals taking a career break to update or develop their skills study at the college, as do working professionals, based in London, who combine their studies with full- or part-time jobs. The college also considers applications from school-leavers with the commitment and maturity required to complete an LCIBS programme and who wish to study at LCIBS in preparation for a university education in the UK or as an alternative to studying at university.

As a college providing courses with an international focus, LCIBS also has a student body comprising a wide range of nationalities. The students come from Britain, Europe, Asia, Australasia, Africa, North and South America, and the Middle East. Turkey has always contributed a significant number of students to the college and this allows new students coming in to feel quickly at home.  At the same time this rich mix of cultures and peoples brings an additional and important aspect to students’ time at LCIBS, creating a stimulating and enriching study environment and providing a cross-cultural awareness that is invaluable in students’ future careers. It also enables students to add individuals from around the world to their network of business contacts, which can prove of great significance in their future career advancement.

LCIBS students have gone on to success in various fields after completing courses at the college.  Many have started careers with international companies, both in the UK and back home.  Others have set up - and are now managing - their own businesses. And some have proceeded to further studies within higher education in the UK, on undergraduate and postgraduate courses. All these options are possible because of the nature and quality of the training provided at LCIBS.
