LCIBS is located in Southampton Place, Bloomsbury, the ideal setting for a period of studies in the capital. There are quiet squares, cafés, libraries and educational bookshops nearby, and London's financial centre, the City, is also within easy reach. Covent Garden, Chinatown and London's famous 'West End' are also within easy walking distance of the college.
Southampton Place is a well-maintained street, which is believed to have been originally laid out and designed by Henry Flitcroft, a famous 18th century English architect. The street is home to a number of educational establishments, but LCIBS was the very first educational institution to move into Southampton Place, having recognised the street's unique character as well as the peaceful learning environment it would offer college students.
The college building itself is an attractive Grade II Listed Georgian-period building and is subject to an English Heritage Building Preservation Order which was granted on the grounds that "Southampton Place ... is an outstanding example of a dignified and finely proportioned Georgian Street of a standard now becoming increasingly rare in central London. The buildings have individual features of architectural interest and in some cases associations with residents of note."
