STUDENT    FOCUS

"I completed a Diploma in Marketing Communications at LCIBS, completing my studies 'with distinction'. I'm now based in London working as a researcher for DATAMONITOR, a market analysis firm doing market analysis in 5 different vertical markets - Automotive and Transport, Consumer goods, Technology, Energy, Financial services. I work as a researcher in Transport especially logistics. Taking the course at LCIBS definitely helped me in finding and doing my job. It introduced me to marketing and market research, it developed my analysis skills, it taught me how to structure and deliver a presentation and how to design my CV and to prepare a job interview. The various assignments also taught me how to work in a team and individually, and how different the 2 things can be, and most of all how to put together ideas to create something and to deliver it in a form that is suitable for the target audience. Naturally, there were occasionally things on the course that I would have liked to see done differently. That's the way it is with all colleges. But the difference I found at LCIBS was a willingness amongst the lecturers and staff to listen to my concerns and take the time and trouble to discuss any issues with me. What I appreciated the most of the LCIBS course, however, and that is also one of the main reasons why I would recommend anyone to take the course, is that it involves the students in practical projects where you are challenged to use your own capabilities and not just what has been written in the manual or book. There is theory but most importantly you have to prove that you can use the theory to create something new or to complete tasks or to solve business related problems."
